Department of Nutritional Sciences (NS) seeks two energetic faculty member to join the department with the ability to interact successfully and work harmoniously with colleagues and students in a diverse community. Experience working with diverse student populations and first-generation students is highly desirable.

 

Open Rank Professor – Community Nutrition: The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, face-to-face and online. Mentor MS and PhD students and assist in recruitment of graduate students. Develop and maintain a high impact scholarly research program in community nutrition or a related area via publications and external funding. Engage in outreach activities and perform service to the department, college, university, and the profession including involvement and leadership in national and or international professional associations.

Required Qualifications: An earned doctorate in dietetics, community nutrition, public health or related disciplines. Demonstrated record of effective teaching at the college level, commensurate with rank. Demonstrated potential (commensurate with rank) to secure extramural research grants and to engage in collaborative research projects in Community Nutrition. Demonstrated record of peer reviewed publications, commensurate with rank. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to interact successfully and work harmoniously with colleagues and students in a diverse community.

Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to utilize technology and online delivery methods. Leadership within the area of discipline and profession. Experience working with diverse student populations and first-generation and Hispanic students is highly desirable. Experience working with international students. Experience with extension services. Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.

Open Rank Professor – Basic Science: The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, face-to-face and/or online. Develop and maintain a high impact scholarly research program in basic science, via peer-reviewed publications and external funding, commensurate with rank. Be able to work in multidisciplinary research teams. Engage in outreach activities and perform service to the department, college, university, and the profession through involvement and leadership in national and or international professional associations.

Required Qualifications: An earned doctorate, such as PhD, in nutrition, biochemistry, biomedical sciences or related disciplines. Potential for or experience in teaching as demonstrated by previous TA experience, conference presentations, or other related evidence. Demonstrated potential (commensurate with current position title) to secure extramural research grants and to engage in externally funded collaborative research projects across the college and university, and with local/regional and national partners including government, corporate, and philanthropic funding agencies. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to interact successfully and work harmoniously with colleagues and students in a diverse community.

Preferred Qualifications: Postdoctoral or equivalent research experience. Research experience in obesity, diabetes, cancer, epigenetics, microbiome, liver and muscle metabolism and/or other nutrition science-related areas. Experience working with diverse student populations and first-generation students is highly desirable. Evidence or potential for training/mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.
