About the opportunity

As a key member of the Advanced Nutrition Management team, reporting to the GM – Advanced Nutrition, you will be a leader for Fonterra on all things nutrition and deliver strategies and initiatives that underpin Fonterra’s nutrition goals.

You will provide guidance on our nutrition policy and guidelines. As the subject matter expert on all dairy-nutrition related topics, you will make recommendations and guide the business on global nutrition trends, policies and issues. Additionally, you’ll be the go-to person on nutrition-related enquiries and communications.

The key accountabilities of the Head of Nutrition are:


  • Delivery of Fonterra’s nutrition goals and co-ordination of our nutrition network
  • Create opportunities related to the role of dairy in nutrition and health for our innovation pipeline
  • Collate scientifically substantiated positions to inform communications, advocacy, and other requirements related to nutrition
  • Identify and respond to emerging global nutrition trends and connect with key thought leaders and bodies to continue to build our nutrition position.


About you

In this senior and highly impactful role, your passion for human nutrition will shine and you will have the opportunity to make a real impact on communities.

As an expert in human nutrition, you will showcase your extensive experience across nutritional science and ideally have a background that includes dairy or specialised nutrition within an international food business.

As an influencer, you have a proven track record in stakeholder management ranging from senior leaders, nutritional experts to media. Your strong communication skills ensure you inspire, influence, advocate and lead the business in human nutrition both locally and globally.

Key skills and experience:

  • Relevant degree and strong track-record in human health or nutritional sciences – ideally having worked in dairy nutrition or specialised nutrition in a commercial context.
  • Strong stakeholder management, and communication skills – ability to influence and guide.

The role is based in Auckland, however for the ideal person we would consider candidates outside of Auckland, provided you are happy to travel occasionally.
