About the opportunity

As Technical Manager – Nutrition, you will lead a high performing team of nutritionists, scientists and researchers within the Advanced Nutrition function to build a world-leading nutrition and health research capability and drive a culture of innovation delivery.

You’ll provide guidance related to health benefits of specialty health and nutrition ingredients and identify how nutrition science is best applied to new initiatives. With a strong focus on guiding and inspiring your team of human nutrition experts, you will develop key talent and ensure this specialist team of scientists and nutritionists offer sustained value to Fonterra’s customers and consumers.

The key accountabilities of the Technical Manager – Nutrition are:

  • Lead a team of human nutrition and health researchers
  • Contribute to research and innovation strategies and pipelines to enable Fonterra’s business and technology strategies and translate nutrition and health science insights into commercial opportunities
  • Provide effective project governance and decision-making to ensure realisation of commercial value through project outputs
  • Engage with business partners and customers to understand how their goals may be enabled by our nutrition and health expertise, and partner with our marketing and regulatory functions in developing propositions

 

About you

With a passion for people and development, you have extensive experience across people leadership and thrive on getting the best performance out of your team. As an accomplished researcher in human nutrition and health, you ideally have specialist knowledge in Dairy, Paediatric, Medical or Sports nutrition. As a natural relationship builder, you easily build rapport with people from all walks of life and quickly build trust amongst your team.

You will also bring with you the following:

  • Strong management skills with the ability to coach and mentor a team of nutrition scientists and researchers
  • Ability to achieve commercial outcomes within budgets and timeframes
  • Relevant degree in human health, nutrition or nutrition sciences – ideally having worked in dairy, paediatric, medical or sports nutrition
  • Proven project management expertise with the ability to translate, communicate and champion global customer requirements across Fonterra
  • A proven history of delivering results in a fast-paced food production environment

The role is based in Palmerston North, however for the ideal person we would consider candidates outside of Palmerston North, provided you are happy to travel occasionally.
